Kundapur, Jul 21: A young man who had gone to swim in a pond along with his friends met watery grave at Rayappanamath pond at Vaderahobali near here on Friday July 20 afternoon.

The drowned has been identified as Mahesh (20), son of Puttaiah Sheregar, a resident of Church Road here.  He had gone to swim the pond along with his friends after coming from college on Friday.  He was a first-year diploma student at a polytechnic institute at Mangalore.

As they were swimming, Mahesh came out of the water and dived back.   But he did not come back later.  Though his friends noticed this, they were so much frightened that, they did not inform anyone about the tragedy.  This prevented any chances of saving Mahesh.

Kundapur police have registered a case in this regard.
