'No saffronisation in textbooks, no influence of political party'

Daijiworld Media Network-Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Dec 21: "Saffronisation in school textbooks will be removed and no influence of any political party will be allowed to creep into the syllabus," said Kannada writer Baraguru Ramachandrappa on Sunday, December 21.

Ramachandrappa is the chairman of the Textbook Revision Committee formed by the State government.

“No influence of any political party will be allowed in the textbooks, be it saffronisation or Congressisation,” Ramachandrappa said. He was speaking during a programme on ‘School textbooks based on scientific and democratic principles’ organised by the All India Save Education Committee.

“I will step down from the post of the chairman of the Textbook Revision Committee if there is any hint of the government pressuring him to do otherwise.” he added.

Ramachandrappa also said “Errors found in the textbooks will be removed. The committee will not only correct them but also rewrite whole chapters and even change the syllabus if needed. A government order in this regard has already been issued."

The present 'Textbook Revision Committee' will be renamed as ‘Comprehensive Review and Restructuring Committee.’

The government had appointed 185 members to 27 committees to revise 352 titles in seven mediums of instruction to review textbooks. Textbooks for the year 2016 will have minor changes while the complete changes will be seen from 2017.

OK, you want to bring in saffronisation into school textbooks, well & good and you do it. You want to have a subject on Gow Matha, well & good and you do it. But don’t force these subjects to all the students of different faith. These subjects should be part of morale studies and the schools should have similar syllabus covering all religion and let everyone enjoy what is right for them.

Agreed but we don’t want people like you occupy the Chairman of the Textbook Revision Committee formed by the State government too. Because thinking and mentality is more dangerous than venom

How Go-matha has entered in some school text books ?
A lesson on Yaksha-Prashne (Questions of Yaksha to Dharmaraja) was there in school text books since long. But this year a new Yaksha-Question has been added to old questions, which is as follows:-
Yaksha asks: Who is most revered and respected next only to your Mother ?
Dharmaraj replies: It is Gomatha (Cow) !

People are trying to saffronise the Constitution so think how easy it is for them saffronise text books.
Mr. Ramachandrappa your job is going to be a tough one but as long as the Congress party is ruling the State, saffronisation of text books will be difficult making your job a little easier.

Read my comments again at the end "a little easier" meaning in comparison to when there is a BJP ruled government. Earlier part of my comment already says he has a tough job because chhadis have infiltrated everywhere.

One must see the difference here from the the BJP type communal agenda.
By celebrating Tipu's birthday or giving a 2 hour lunch break the rights of the majority religious community are not being deprived, harassed or obstructed whereas things like banning beef, saffronisation of text books the religious minority are being deprived/obstructed/harassed.

The Congress or other secular parties may have appeased minorities but in doing so the majority community did not feel threatened or harassed but the communal agenda of the BJP has the Christians and Muslims in particular feeling alienated, threatened and harassed with beef bans, 'go to Pakistan' slogans etc..
