Mangaluru, Dec 25: The police department has deployed KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police) force inside and outside the premises of malls in the city, in the wake of protest by Bajrang Dal activists against the screening of Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer 'Dilwale' directed by Rohit Shetty.

However, despite the police security, the multiplex managements have refused to screen the movie.

It may be recalled that on December 20, activists of Bajrang Dal, protesting against Shah Rukh Khan's statement on intolerance, had forcibly stopped the screening of 'Dilwale' in three malls in the city. Since then, the theatre managements have suspended the shows.

Speaking to daijiworld, DCP Shantharaju said, "The police department has provided adequate protection to the malls to screen the film, but the decision to screen it or not is left to the theatre managements."

Balakrishna Shetty, manager of Big Cinemas told daijiworld that the theatre would not be screening the movie, while Deepak Ganghadar, managing head of PVR Cinemas said that there was no schedule to screen the movie this week.

Meanwhile, state home minister G Parameshwara said that attempts to engage in immoral rowdyism in the coastal region on the issue of screening of the film would be ruthlessly crushed. He said that the government will not allow people to take law into their hands.

On Thursday December 24, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) had organized a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office, urging the government to initiate legal steps against Sangh Parivar outfits which have blocked the screening of the film in the city.

In this whole episode... who actually won? The winners are the right wing fascist. The only reason they exist is because there is a passive support for these groups.

Now that being said, majority of you people who have commented over here would do a similar thing or would at least passively support your favoured groups to protest / threaten if someone says/writes which offends your beliefs ... etc.

Dear Akshashad, your comments represents that you are a hate monger and communal. You have appreciated fil Baji Rao only because a hindu king falls in love with a muslim. YOu would have definitely agitated if the Film story is vise varsa ie a muslim king falls in love with a hindu girl. You would have forced the theater to stop screening the film. For your information Dilwale has met its target though it is not screened in mangalore. Who care your agitation.

There is a suspicion growing on Theater owners behaviour of not screening the movie now irrespective of Police and CRPF protection being provided. This is leading to suspicion of even the Theater owners are indirectly supporting these Bajrang Dal thug gang. Could b they might have already received their share of money in loss from these thug Organization's for adhering to them of not screening the movie as it will be a matter of prestige to these thug gangs if the film start running back in theater.

Any thing can happen in DK and it's neighboring region as it's ruled by thug gang and it's thug organizations.

Even after police are giving protection, if the multiplexes are not showing the movie 'Dilwale', I guess now we people should boycott going to multiplexes. The management from multiplexes seem to have joined hands with the outfits. Is there no value for our police force who work day and night?

Either multiplex owners joined hands with Cheddis or they are scare of them, no guts to face them!

I don't know how some bhakts are saying Dilwale was bakwas movie, did they watch it in the dark?

Movie has collected 215 crores in 7 days, who cares now, theater is showing it or not? Let the Govt waste tax payers money on security... all because of Cheddis

First of all bajrang dal activists should have been behind bars for stopping the screening of the film forcibly.

Now multiplex managements have refused to screen the movie because bajrang dal may come again and create problems which will lead to bad image of mall. And all these is happening because of spineless police we have and controlled by useless politicians.
