Bengaluru: Assaulted Tanzanian was in killer car, claim cops

'Student cooked up story after she was let off '

Bengaluru, Feb 6 (DHNS): The case of assault and molestation of a Tanzanian girl student has taken a new twist with the police claiming that she was in the very car driven by a Sudanese national that fatally knocked down a woman on Hesaraghatta Main Road in north Bengaluru on Sunday night.

The Tanzanian student, in her complaint on February 3, stated that the mob had attacked her and her friends, and stoned their car when they were going to get something to eat. She had claimed that she was unaware of the accident.

However, a police inspector who claimed to be on the spot on Sunday night, said that the Tanzanian student was among the four people who were in the car that caused the accident. After they pleaded, the police let her and the two others go. The African students assured the police that they would come back for questioning the next day in connection with the accident, the officer said.

“I was one of the officers who was on the spot. Though I belong to a neighbouring station, I rushed to the spot as I have often dealt with such incidents involving African students. We subjected car driver Mohammad Ahad to alcometer test. We presumed that the incident might take a serious turn and let the three others go. We trusted her and thought that she would come back. We never imagined that she would backtrack and cook up a story,” he said.

The officer claimed that the mob pushed her down when she attempted to rescue Ahad. Some people warned her not to intervene.

The police also claimed that she “narrated the truth” when she met her college principal the next day. She is a fourth year degree student at Acharya NRV School of Architecture.

Meanwhile, sources told Deccan Herald that she had also told a senior IPS officer that she was in the car that caused the accident. Juma Charles, a student of Aerospace at Alliance University, said the Tanzanian girl was in a different car that passed through the accident spot 20 minutes after the accident.

Asked about the presence of the Tanzanian woman in the car which caused the accident and if she was in an inebriated state as claimed by the officer, Bosco Kaweesi, legal advisor, All African Students’ Union, Bengaluru, told Deccan Herald: “If at all she was present in the car that caused the accident, the people saying this should prove that. Also, if she was drunk, let them come out with an alcohol test certificate.”

Vice-President of Cameroon Students’ Association said: “I don’t think the police version is true. What has come in media is a fact.”

Just couple of years back the local people of Goa rose unitedly and kicked out Nigerians from Goa. At that time BJP party was ruling Goa and thousands of Nigerians were assaulted and drove away from Goa, but then no English Media called Goans as racist.
Then why now Karnataka people are being branded as racist by English Media?. But atleast Kannada media is doing right thing by supporting Kannadigas and exposing the misdeeds of African students engaged in Drug abuse and also Cyber Crime.

The state government and its police department is responsible to identify and take action against foreign national staying illigaly in India after VISA period expires.

If we go by your statement cantral Govt should have separate police force to take action against foreign nationals.

Can you please show the document we which says state police canot take action against foreign nationals?

Some of these African nationals have become the nightmare in Bangalore because of their behavior, reckless driving, drinking , drugs and misbehaving with women.

I remember last time they assaulted BMTC conductor for asking the ticket at Shantinagar.

They are very much aware of the fact of extradition and other treaties and are very much misusing it.

Now not only punish that lady for misleading the entire nation, send all the 4 back to their country for misleading and trying to soil the relation of both the countries.

I agree with Stan. Too much importance is given to this cooked uo story. No one has bothered about the real victim. Justice should be given to innocent Victim who has lost her life due to rash and careless driving by these students.

Our media is busy in sensationalising the news rather than reporting the truth.

Whatever may be twists and turns taking place in this particular incident, these African students and some staying illegally have become s nightmare to the Bangalore residents especially in Vartur, Banasavadi areas because of their violent behaviour, drug peddling and fights etc. It looks like even our Police dept has become hopelessly helpless in controlling them as they are either afraid of this mafia or getting money from them!
