Parbhani, Jul 16: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 19-year-old woman allegedly gave birth to a baby boy inside a moving sleeper coach bus and, along with her partner, threw the newborn out of the window, leading to the child's death.
The shocking act took place around 6:30 am on Tuesday on the Pathri-Selu Road in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district. The couple, identified as Ritika Dhere and Altaf Shaikh, were travelling from Pune to Parbhani in a sleeper coach bus belonging to Sant Prayag Travels.

According to police officials, Dhere went into labour during the journey and delivered the baby inside the bus. Soon after, the couple allegedly wrapped the newborn in a cloth and tossed him out of the moving vehicle.
The bus driver, who saw something being discarded from a window, confronted Shaikh, who falsely claimed that his wife had vomited due to motion sickness.
However, an alert bystander on the road, who noticed the object being thrown, discovered it was a baby boy and immediately informed the police via the 112 helpline.
Acting swiftly, the local police intercepted the bus and detained the couple. During interrogation, the duo reportedly admitted to discarding the baby, saying they were unable to raise the child. Tragically, the baby did not survive the fall.
Police stated that both individuals are originally from Parbhani and had been living in Pune for the past year and a half. Though they claimed to be married, they could not provide any documentation to support their claim.
The woman was rushed to a hospital for medical care, and a case has been registered at Pathri police station under Sections 94 (3) and (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), related to concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body.
A formal notice has been issued to the accused, and further investigation into the case is underway.
