Kundapur: Golikadu villagers boycott elections

Kundapur, Feb 11: Shamihaklu and Golikadu villages of Kelasunka in Amasebail grama panchayat limits, habitat of scheduled caste families is reportedly deprived of basic facilities. Shamihaklu Golikadu villagers have protested saying that they will not elect any political party in the present elections.






“The communities of backward tribes are neglected after independence. There are more than eighty houses in Shamihaklu and Golikadu areas of Kelasunka. They have to come to Kelasunka, Jaddinagadde and Amasebail for any purchases. The people representatives come during elections and promise all things but do not act on the needs of the people”, they alleged.

“There are no approach roads to Shamehaklu and Golikadu and due to conflicts between Abhayaranya department and government, the funds released for the purpose are returned. Mobile network is non functional. Drinking water problem is unending. Complaints in this respect have yielded no fruits”, they said.

“School children have to walk in between forests to go to school. Patients have to be carried to the hospital. Hundreds of children walk to the school. Elected representatives have remained indifferent. Therefore the villagers are boycotting the elections”, they said.

Villagers of Golikadu Shekar Naik, Ashok Naik, Santhosh Naik, Soora Naik, Jyothi, Rathi Naik, Shamihaklu residents Kalu Naik, Krishna Naik, Manjunath, Raghavendra, Rajendra, Lalitha, Kamala, Vishalakshi and more than seventy people participated in the protests.
