Mangalore, Oct 18: A pledge-taking ceremony ‘Stand up, speak out’ was organized by the ‘Art of Living’ (AoL) community in the city in association with United Nations Millennium Campaign against poverty and for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). Hundreds of people participated in this ceremony.

The aim of the MDG campaign is to make the world a safer and equitable world by year 2015. The campaign for ‘Stand up, Speak out’ was adopted by Art of Living group in order to inculcate a sense of responsibility in all citizens towards MDG. On Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 October the pledge-taking ceremony was organized in more than 194 countries across the globe. 

On this occasion the pledge-taking ceremony was held at Canara Girls High School ground in Dongerkery, the members of the AoL community held their hands together, leaving out none. The pledge was dictated by B N R Rao. Former district-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty also graced the occasion. The ceremony was preceded by a satsang.
