Karkala Oct 20: Karkala police have nabbed Yogish, a quarry owner at Holenarasipura, a town in Hassan district for allegedly abducting Venkatesh (55), a resident of Arjeddu, Kukkandur.

According to informed sources the motive behind Yogish carrying out the kidnapping of Venkatesh a week ago, was the latter’s son Dharma (28) cheating the quarry owner.
 
It is understood that Dharma had obtained Rs 15,000 as advance from Yogish assuring him that he would work for him as coolie. However after taking the money he escaped to his home-town Karkala, from where subsequently his father Venkatesh was kidnapped.
 
Yogish decided to kidnap Venkatesh instead of Dharma, as he could not trace the latter despite visiting Dharma’s residence umpteen times.   
 
Police is understood to have arrested Yogish, when he came down to Karkala to free Venkatesh. According to informed sources Yogish decided to free Venkatesh as he felt that confining him illegally would serve no purpose, moreover he was also forced to free Venkatesh at Karkala as Venkatesh was suffering from a serious ailment.
 
A case has been registered at the Karkala urban police station against Manju and Vasantha who allegedly helped Yogish at the time of abduction.
