M'lore: Dasara Celbrations of Sharada Mahotsav Committee held

Mangalore, Oct 23: The idol of goddess Sharada, worshipped by Shri Sharada Mahotsav Committee at Acharya Math premises, Car Street here was taken on a grand procession for immersion on Monday October 22.

Since 85 years, the Sharada Mahotsav Committee has been organizing Sharada puja. This year, the worship of goddess Sharada started 5 days ago. The goddess’ different avatars like Saraswati, Dugra, Lakshmi, Narayini and Kali were worshiped for 5 days respectively.

The worship of goddess Sharada was started at 5 pm on Monday October 22 and the grand procession was started at 8 pm. Different kinds of tableaux, persons in the guise of tigers and other mythological characters were the main attraction of the procession.

The procession passed through Shri Venkataramana Temple, Field Street, Dongarakeri, New Chitra theate, Lower Car Street, Upper Car Street and culminated near the Mahammayi Lake. The idol of goddess Sharada was immersed at Mahammayi Lake located near Shri Venkataramana Temple at 6 am on Tuesday October 23.
