Karkala, Oct 23: A bike rider died while the pillion rider sustained serious injuries and hospitalized, when their motor cycle was hit by a Maxi cab which was plying towards Padubidri  near Laxmi Janardhan High School, Nandalike here on Monday October 22 morning. 

The deceased bike rider has been identified as Yajnesh Hegde (21), a resident of Kutrady in Udupi district while the injured has been identified as Anoop Suvarna.  Yajnesh and Anoop were students of Nitte Engineering College and were on their way to attend their classes.  Their bike was hit by a speeding Maxi cab, when the bike rider tried to negotiate a huge pothole after overtaking a bus.

When Yajnesh, was lying on the ground with multiple injuries, none of the locals came to their rescue. Although the general public and motorists were viewing the horrible scene of a student fighting for life, nobody ever came to his rescue.  The precious 15 minutes lost  proved later as Yajnesh died owing to excessive bleeding on his way to hospital.
