Ajman, Jul 2: Thumbay Hospital, part of the Thumbay network of academic hospitals operated by the healthcare division of Thumbay Group and affiliated to the Gulf Medical University (GMU) here, hosted a Japanese student for the observership programme, as part of her MBBS program in Japan.
The student, Yuko Sakamota, 6th year MBBS student of Osaka City University in Japan completed her one-month observership at Thumbay Hospital - in the city on Saturday July 2. This is the first time that GMU and its network of Thumbay teaching hospitals has hosted a student from Japan, for observership.
Sakamota visited GMU to thank the administrative and academic leadership for supporting her throughout the programme. She described her observership experience at Thumbay Hospital as ‘deeply enriching and highly enjoyable’. She was particularly happy about having got the chance to interact with patients from many different cultures and nationalities.
Established at Ajman in 1998 as the Gulf Medical College by Thumbay Moideen, the founder president of Thumbay Group, the institution became a full-fledged medical university – the Gulf Medical University, in 2008. GMU is today considered the most in demand private medical university in the region.
