US swimmer Ledecky sets world record in women's 800m freestyle


Rio de Janeiro, Aug 13 (IANS): Swimmer Katie Ledecky of the United States has set a world record in women's 800m freestyle event at the Rio Olympics.

Ledecky completed the distance in 8 minutes 04.79 seconds here on Friday, reports Sputnik.

The previous world record (8 minutes 06.68 seconds) was also set by Ledecky in January this year.
