Udupi: St Mary’s Old Students’ Association holds Annual Day

Udupi, Dec 10:  The annual day of the old students’ association of St Mary’s, Shirva near here was celebrated with pomp and gaiety on the school grounds on Saturday December 8.
 
The celebrations started with the hoisting of the school flag by the chief guest Wilson Rodrigues, notary, Karnataka Government.

Fr Valerian Pinto, correspondent presided over the programme. Various games were conducted. The old students actively participated in all the games.

Dr Nelly Nazareth, assistant professor at Fr Muller Institutions and Richard Vincent D’Souza, joint commissioner, transports were the guests for the cultural programme which was held in the evening. Fr Valerian Pinto presided over the function.

Simon D’Souza, president of the Association while welcoming the gathering described the objectives of the association, the activities held so far and the future plans of the Association.

Dr Nelly stressed upon the moments she spent gladly in St Mary's campus, the devotion of the teachers towards the students and the warm relationship between the institution and the old students.

Speaking on the occasion Vincent D’Souza dwelt upon the changing environment at the schools, the need of globalization and called upon the teachers and the students to adapt to the changing world.

Fr Valerian Pinto while blessing the gathering commended the teachers who are working hard for success of their students in academics as well as life.
 
Stage function was followed by various entertainment programmes. A hilarious comedy play in Tulu "Goompudu Vori Govinde" was also staged and was liked by all.
