Mumbai University Kannada department holds review on Bendre's poems

Mumbai, Oct 20: Mumbai University Kannada department under the aegis of Bendre Memorial National Trust Dharwad and Kendra Sahitya Academy, New Delhi held a programme on poems of Bendre at Kalina campus, Santacruz east on Thursday October 20 morning.

Researcher and critic Dr Sarfraj and artiste Ananth Deshpande gave a lecture on Bendre. A review of 'Poems by Bendre' edited by university Kannada department head, Dr G S Upadhya was released by Dr Purushothama Bilimale. Kannada department visiting lecturer Dr K Raghunath reviewed the works.

Dr G V Kulkarni, Dr Sunitha M Shetty, Dr Vishwanath Karnad, Dr Mamatha Rao, Dr Rama Udupa, S K Sunder, S Daya, Srinivasa Jokatte, Rathnakar R Shetty, advocate Vasanth Kalakoti, Karunakar Hejmady, Dakshayini Yadahalli, Surekha Devadiga and others were present.

Dr Shamsunder gave information on Vaman Bendre who passed away recently. The programme began with a poem by Mukund Kulkarni. Kannada department assistant Dr Poornima S Shetty welcomed the gathering, introduced the resource persons and compered the programme. Dr Jyothi Devadiga proposed the vote of thanks.
