Udupi, Feb 8: The annual parish feast (vhodlem fest) of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva was celebrated on Tuesday February 5.  Though vhodlem fest is celebrated on Wednesdays in this part of the world, owing to early advent of the Lenten season (Wednesday February 6 was Ash Wednesday), the feast was held on Tuesday.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration began at 10.30 am with several priests from the Shirva deanery and other parishes participating in it.  Earlier donors were presented with candles of honour by the parish priest Fr Valerian Pinto.  Thousands of devotees from the parish as well as from neighbouring parishes participated in the feast

Earlier the Vespers which is also known as 'besp' locally was held on Monday February 4 night.  The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was held.  The celebration came to an end with colourful fireworks.
