Mangalore, Feb 8: Hospitals must show commitment towards society and thus become catalysts in gifting a healthy society, said P K Srimathi Teacher, minister of health, government of Kerala.
She was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of advanced cardiology research centre, set up by Omega Hospital at the hospital premises on Friday February 8.
People from northern Kerala and Dakshina Kannada districts can avail the services of the research centre; as it is conveniently located at the intersection of NH 48 and NH 17, close to Mahaveer circle in the city, she added, while releasing the Omega newsletter on the occasion.
'Medical science is improving at a rapid pace. The existence of society without the help of medical science is unimaginable.' This stresses the one-to-one relationship between society and doctors. Moreover, hospitals should voluntarily come forward to offer medical care to poor and needy patients, said U T Khader, former MLA, Ullal, who was also a guest on the occasion.
C H Kunhambu, MLA of Manjeshwar, also spoke on the occasion, after inaugurating the free cardiac check-up camp.
A V Shetty, senior cardiologist, presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Staff and doctors of the hospital were present on the occasion.
