M'lore: District Achieves 89 per cent Success in Pulse Polio Drive

  Dakshina Kannada district has achieved 88.5 per cent success in the second round of Pulse Polio programme held on Sunday.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, DHO Dr Jagannath said Mangalore rural has achieved 87.8 per cent,  Puttur rural (91.9 per cent), Puttur urban (90 per cent), Belthangady (93.6 per cent), Bantwal rural (92.2 per cent), Bantwal urban (94.3 per cent), Sullia (94.5 per cent), Mangalore urban (82.4 per cent). Pulse polio drops have been administered to total of 1,59,944 children below five years in the district.

He said "the success is less compared to first round of pulse polio."
 
As many as 921 polio booths were set up across the district out of which 741 booths were in the rural areas and 180 booths in urban areas.

Besides, there were mobile booths in transit points such as bus stops and railway stations.

The authorities had decided to administer polio drops to 1,80,775 children below 5 years of age in the district.The health officials will visit 3,60,809 houses for the next three days. 

As many as 3,684 volunteers and 184 supervisors have been appointed for the second round of pulse polio drive. As many as 179 jeeps will be utilised for the purpose.
