Bangalore: Gowda Alleges EC of Adopting Double Standards

ENS

Bangalore, Apr 30: Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda has come down heavily on the Election Commission for turning a Nelson’s eye towards violation of the code of conduct by the Congress and Governor Rameshwar Thakur.

A day after his vehicle was seized by the EC, Gowda criticised the double standards adopted by the EC. ‘’The EC did not take any action when the Governor cleared the NICE project file.

The Commission is also not taking action against the Congress for violation of code of conduct during its campaigns,’’ he alleged, and added that the JD(S) and others had been targeted by the EC.

‘‘It looks like they will follow us even to the toilet,’’ an angry Gowda said, mincing no words for the official who followed his vehicle ‘even after possessing a pass issued by the Commission.’

Meanwhile, former corporator Lalita Srinivasa Gowda of the Congress joined the JD(S) with her supporters in the presence of Deve Gowda and Basavanagudi JD(S) candidate H M Vishwanath.
