Bantwal, Aug 1: A Honda Civic car bearing Delhi registration number was found fallen into the roadside gorge in an internal road between Maji Oni and Kodapadavu near Veerakamba late night on Monday July 31. The incident has given rise to suspicion.

Reportedly, the car reached the spot after driving on Mangaluru road and taking a deviation in the road leading to Kodapadavu. It then jumped into the roadside drain and got deposited in the gorge. As soon as a few locals went near the car to observe what had happened, occupants of the car, it is said, came out and fled from the spot.

Personnel of Vittal police station who came to know about the incident, went to the spot and took the car into custody. They said they would register a case on their own once they get documents of the ownership.

On its way, the car came unhindered towards Vittal by crossing the check-post at Vittal. The fact that the people manning the check-post did not make enquiries about the car has given rise to doubts in the minds of the people here.
