Udupi, Aug 1: Members of district Youth Congress on Monday, July 31 demanded the state government to conduct fair and impartial investigation into the mysterious death case of Kavya, a student of Alva’s Educational institution.

Speaking at Press club here, district president of Youth Congress Udupi unit, Vishwas Amin said, “We want the government to conduct an unbiased investigation into the case. Kavya’s family is also demanding the same to get justice. Many doubts have risen in people’s minds. The investigation should be transparent. We will always support and stand by Kavya’s family.”

Youth Congress members also appealed the government to compensate the family as Kavya was a state-level badminton player. They also said that it was responsibility of the management to provide financial assistance to her family.

“There should be a reason for her suicide. As per her conversation with parents over phone, it shows that Kavya not in any kind of mental stress. Then how did she commit suicide the next morning at her hostel room?” questioned Amin.

“Former chief minister of Karnataka, H D Kumaraswamy gave statement in favour of capitalists like Mohan Alva, instead of supporting Kavya’s family. He also alleged that media is portraying the innocent as guilty. HDK should remember that the same media gave him publicity when he became the CM of Karnataka. If he had true concern towards Kavya, why did he not visit her house in his two day schedule? HDK through his statements is misleading the police department. Youth Congress strongly condemns Kumaraswamy’s statement,” added Amin.

“Dakshina Kannada is an educational hub. Parents send their children from far off places to get quality education with a lot of faith. But when they enter private school campuses, it is like a fort, where no one knows the policies and regulations,” stated Amin.

“The government and the police department should not get influenced by any individual. Youth Congress members will also approach sports and youth affairs minister Pramod Madhwaraj regarding the issue,” he concluded.

Prashanth Poojary, Vignesh Kini, Neeraj Padil, and Melvin D’Souza were present.
