Beltangady: Man slips, drowns in pond at Bajire

Beltangady, Aug 5: A man who was cutting grass in the farm at Bajire near Venoor in the taluk on Friday August 4, accidentally slipped and drowned.

The victim was Sathish Acharya (35), residing in Bellibettu House in Bajire village. He was unmarried. On Friday morning, he had gone to the areca nut farm for collecting grass for the cattle. When he was engaged in collecting grass on the edge of the pond, he suddenly slipped. As he could not act quickly and muster enough strength to come out of water, he met watery grave.

Fire brigade personnel from here succeeded in retrieving his body later. Post mortem was conducted at the government hospital here.

The deceased is survived by mother. A case of unnatural death was registered in Venoor police station.
