Bantwal: Leopard rescued, left in Western Ghats

Bantwal, Aug 6: Recently a leopard was spotted at Pandavarakallu in the taluk which had caused anxiety among local people.

The villagers informed about it to the forest officials. The officials rushed to the place with their team and captured the leopard which was later released in Western Ghats.

RFO Suresh, deputy RFO Preetham, Anil, guards Jithesh, Vinay Kumar, Laxminarayan, Jayaram, Bhasker, Praveen, snake Kiran, staff from Pilikula and Sriprasad participated in the operation.

    The incidence of wild animals entering to human habitats is bound to increase. This is because of drastic decrease in forest area everywhere. The leopards can survive in urban environment as seen in city of Mumbai. Leopard do feed on dogs.

    Honnappa Byadagi,it is not only forest area is decreased but their survive can only be garanted if they get enough food n forest.They cant survive with leaves.previously there were wild animals were there.Now humans have hunted them all.Even now people go to hunt in ghats.Naturally they come to citys where dogs and pigs etc to hunt..It will not take long they will be back of humans when hunger is too big..too many leopards are roaming around now.
