Cong plans massive rally to observe 75 years of Quit India movement

Bengaluru, Aug 8: The Quit India Movement, the clarion call by the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi asking the British to leave India, on Wednesday (August 9) will be celebrated by the ruling Congress party in the State with a massive rally from Freedom Park to Town Hall in the City.

The event is being observed in a big way as this year completes 75 years since the Mahatma Gandhi’s call to the British to leave India.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dr G Parameshwara, Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao and legislators of the party have been asked to wear white clothes and participate in the rally.

Speaking to reporters at the KPCC office on Tuesday, KPCC Vice-President L Hanumanthaiah said over 5,000 party workers would take part in the rally.

Workers would take out rally holding placards containing photographs of freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Sarojini Naidu, C Rajagopalachari and Moulana Abdul Kalam, he said.

The party workers have been instructed not to hold placards containing photographs of AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Vice-president Rahul Gandhi, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
