Puttur: Mai De Deus Church hosts 'Cooking without fire' competition for parishioners

Puttur, Aug 31: 'Cooking without fire' competition was conducted for the parishioners of Mai De Deus Church here on August 27 at the Church hall.

The competition was organized by 'Shalom Sthree Sangatan' a women's organization of Mai De Deus parish.

The parish priest Fr Alfred J Pinto inaugurated the programme and wished all the participants well. This first of its kind competition in the parish was held in two categories namely below 18 years and above 18 years age group. As many as 27 members participated. They prepared a variety of salads, juices and sweets on the spot. It was an amazing and thrilling experience for the participants.



Prizes were distributed by Fr Alfred J Pinto and assistant parish priest Fr Praveen D’Souza at the closing ceremony to three winners from each group. Leena Pais, Muktha Nayak and Gratia Sequeira were the judges. Mementos were presented to the judges as a token of gratitude. The entire programme was conducted by Sylvia D’Souza, president of Shalom Sthree Sangatan. She was assisted by Evelin D'Souza, secretary, Philomena D’Souza, vice president, Evan Mascarenhas, Lovina Pinto and other members of the organisation. 'Shalom Sthree Santan' is a very active organization the parish.
