Udupi: Padmapriya Death Case - Accused Atul in Hospital Again

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 1: Atul, who was remanded to judicial custody on Sunday June 29, got admitted into the New City hospital here but got discharged from there on the evening of Monday June 30 and admitted as an in-patient in Manipal hospital on the same day, sources said. It may be recalled, that the court had directed that Atul be admitted to hospitals of his choice as and when required.

At the same time, lawyers representing Atul have filed bail application in the district and sessions court. The public prosecutor has been given time till July 9 to file his objections. In view of the fact that the judicial custody of Atul comes to an end that day, arguments and counter arguments on the bail application might either be held on that day or some other date may be fixed by the court then.

Manipal police inspector B G Achar has indicated that further investigation is required for exposing the conspirators in the case. As the suicide occured at Delhi, the policemen there may also take up investigation. This might also be the reason for the delay in the receipt of the post mortem report. "We have applied for the report. Chargesheet will be filed in the court after collecting necessary documents and completing investigations," Achar disclosed.
