Mangalore, Jul 2: Come rains and Mangalore is up faced with the nightmares of the roads. Whether it is the potholes that expand in the roads with every shower, or the frequency of accidents on them, it just gets bigger in rains. Roads turn slippery in rainy season owing to the fact that oil on the roads falling from the vehicles gets exposed when it pours. The potholes covered with disguised 'pond's of water often mislead and confuse the drivers and riders, thereby resulting in accidents. The visibility of the driver / rider is also affected as heavy rains often blur the vision of the road. The best thing to do is to be as safe as possible while on wheels. Or else, you might encounter something like this:

Mangalore: A lorry being fished out of the water with the help of a crane near the Old Port after it fell in deep waters on Tuesday July 1. No casualties were reported in the tragedy

Mangalore: A car that lost control and hit the electric pole lying down the roadside near Arkula on the outskirts of the city

Mulky: A lorry slid down 10 feet near the Padu Panambur – Kolnadu bridge. The driver and others got away with minor injuries

Kokkada: An ore-laden lorry that hit a bridge on a steep curve near Mannagundi, Nellyadi. The vehicle was on its way from Hasan to Mangalore. The driver as well as the cleaner have got away with minor injuries

The main reason for these kind of accidents is that people are eternally in a hurry. Nothing will be lost if one drives slowly, but that feeling of overtaking leads to accidents. Nobody even stops to see the victim 'Cause everybody has to reach fast eventhough the haste is of no consequence!

it is habitual to politicians and we citizens, as this scenario repeats every year and photgraphs and articles are printed every year but no changes take place except we see parties changing and politicians growing richer, and fooling people with sweet words, people should protest in front of the authorities residences who are irresponsible and do such dirty works.and till they complete the work properly they should not let them move out of their houses

Yes reason for accidents are not mearly a bad road Bu I think it the careless driving of our so called experet drivers. RTO should take very srigent policy no DL if any body makes more than three mistakes.
