Mangaluru: Corporation to approach SVP for bus terminal at Pumpwell

Mangaluru, Nov 29: At the session of city corporation held here on Tuesday November 28, it was decided to forward a proposal to build a bus terminal in 7.23 acres of land near Pumpwell for the special purpose vehicle (SPV) relating to smart city project. The bus terminal is proposed to be built with private-public participation.

The advance sanction given to the agenda by the mayor was approved by the session of the corporation council. The bus terminal is proposed to be built under public private participation on the basis of design, execution, finance, maintainance and transfer model. The terminal will have space to park government and private buses, commercial stalls, theatre, multi-level car parking and more said city corporation commissioner, Muhammed Nazeer.

SVP board will be meeting at Bengaluru on Wednesday and the said proposal for the bus stand will be placed before this meeting.

Road from the proposed terminal to Pumpwell Junction needs to be developed, and underpass will have to be constructed under the national highway. The complex, as per the current proposal, will be completely transferred to the city corporation in 33 years.

Chief whip, Shashidhar Hegde pointed out that getting the project executed is not difficult and getting approval of urban development department and cabinet can also be got done early.

On this occasion, advance sanction given by the mayor for building a market/comercial complex at a cost of Rs 49.5 crore at Kankanady was approved. For this project, finance of Rs 22.5 crore will be extended by Karnataka Urban Development Infrastructure Finance Corporation and Rs 17 crore will be raised by way of loan from nationalized bank. There is a shortfall of ten crore rupees. It was proposed to use three crore rupees earmarked from Nagarothana, and to meet the balance seven crore rupees from out of city corporation funds.
