Kasargod: Sexual exploitation with marriage promise - accused gets seven years RI

Kasargod, Nov 30: The district court here has sentenced Muhammed Basheer (25), resident of North Trikkaripura Maniyadi in Hosdurg taluk to seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a case of sexual exploitation of a lady by promising to marry her. He also has been imposed with a fine of Rs 25,000.

The woman, aged 23, lives near Trikkaripura. The accused had got acqainted to her by making cellphone calls. On April 16, 2012, he had led her to his home, and sexually used her by giving marriage promise. Thereafter, he had refused to meet his marriage promise. A case had thereafter been registered against him in Chandera police station.

The court said that the guilty will have to undergo three more months in jail if he fails to pay the fine imposed on him.
