Mangaluru, Dec 8: Karnataka coast, which was under the grip of cyclonic storm, Ockhi, is returning to normalcy. Fishermen from here ventured into the sea on Thursday after a six-day gap, although the activity on the first day was not hectic. About 30 purse seine boats left the shore in the city on Thursday and returned safely by the evening. Reports said that the boats mostly caught sardines.

Malpe Fishermen's Association president, Satish Kunder, said that purse seine boats in that port would begin fishing on Friday. Trawler boats went into the sea on Thursday midnight. Boats from different places and other states, which were stranded in different ports due to the cyclonic storms, are returning home now.

The ship, 'Amini Dew' which commutes between Lakshadweep and the city thrice a week began its operations after a week's rest, on Friday morning. Mini ships carrying goods to Lakshadweep too have begun their trips. Four such ships reached the port here on Wednesday and four more arrived on Thursday, it is gathered.
