Bangalore: JD(S) to Join Hands with Congress for Bypoll - Deve Gowda

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Sep 29: Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday September 28, JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda gave indirect hints, that his party is gearing up to striking an alliance with the Congress for the by-elections slated to be held soon to fill up the assembly seats that have fallen vacant in eight constituencies.

He however, clarified that he had not withdrawn his earlier statement, calling the secular parties in the country to sink their mutual enmities, to come together to fight the communal BJP.

When some media persons drew Gowda's attention to his earlier statement and also that of his son, ex-chief minister Kumaraswamy, that his party would fight the election on its own, he quipped, by asking the media not to try to act too smart. "Our party is watching the developments in the state politics," he added.

"KPCC president R V Deshpande has called for the secular powers to come together. Let him discuss with his own party bosses, leaders and the working president, and come out with a concrete decision," Gowda said.

Deve Gowda however, did not want to be dragged into any controversies on the alleged statement of Deshpande that Gowda and his sons were responsible for the present political situation in the state. "We do not want to discuss this issue. Our proiority will be to face the future challenges," he asserted.
