Udupi, Sep 30: "Because of the fast-paced changes witnessed in the modern system of medicine, the importance of family doctors is declining. This is a disturbing development," noted home minister Dr V S Acharya.

He was delivering a lecture on 'Family Doctors - Then and Now', at the Dr K R Kini Memorial Endowment Lecture programme organised under the aegis of the district branch of Indian Medical Association at the auditorium of the association on the evening of Sunday September 28.

He also released the house magazine, 'Medilore' edited by Dr Devadas Rai. Veteran neurologist Dr K R Shetty and neuro surgeon Dr K V Devadiga felicitated Dr Acharya. IMA district president Dr Sathish Bhandary presided.

Dr Sudhakar Shetty and Dr Gerome Pinto delivered introductory addresses. Secretary Dr Manjunath Shenoy proposed vote of thanks.
