Bangalore, Sep 30: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson B L Shankar criticized chief minister(CM) B S Yeddyurappa for creating supernumerary posts to appease his followers and in the process, wasting the government funds.

Launching a scathing attack on the CM at a press conference held here on Monday September 29, he questioned the rationale behind appointing Shashil Namoshi as the chairman of a committee formed for implementing the recommendations of Dr D Nanjundappa Committee.  "What then, is the relevance and purpose of having Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board?," he questioned.

He also cited the example of the formation of Coastal Development Authority with ex-minister B Nagaraj Shetty as its chairman. "What is the fate of Malnad Region Development Board that is already functioning?," Shankar questioned.

The chief minister is creating unwanted posts just to keep his followers in good humour. The government has many bureaucrats in the form of additional chief secretaries, chief secretary etc., They can be posted to Gulbarga and other suitable places, and can be entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the bugetary programmes," he suggested.

Shankar felt, that the posts the CM is creating of late, are meant merely for rehabilitating his own partymen. "The CM has appointed senior lawyer Diwakar as his legal advisor, inspite of the presence of advocate general. There was no necessity for creating this post, as the parliamentary secretary's job is to advise the CM on these matters," he criticized.
