Mangalore: MRPL Honours Freedom Fighters

Mangalore, Oct 1: On Monday September 29, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) honoured six distinguished freedom fighters from the region, at its auditorium.



A total of six freedom fighters, Shambu Shetty, B S N Mallya, Sanjeevanath Aikala, Karunakar Ucchil, Attavar Prabhakar Das (nephew of the late Attavar Yellapa) and Rangalakshmi(wife of the late T Narayana Sastry), were honoured on the occasion.

On behalf of MRPL, former managing director R Rajamani, GGM (HR) K Lakshminarayan, GGM (finance)  P S Ravindran, in charge GGM Refinery P P Upadhyay and Rashtra Gaurav Samrakshana Parishat Karnataka unit convener T Ramakrishna invited the freedom fighters to the dais. K Lakshminarayan delivered the welcome address. Bouquets were presented to the distinguished guests by the management of MRPL.

Citations of the freedom writers were then read out by Saraswati, Shreesha, Jayalakshmi, Seetaram Rai, P A Jose and Smitha. R Rajamani, Lakshminarayan, P S Ravindran, P P Upadhyay, T Ramakrishna and Lekshmi Kumaran honoured the freedom fighters thereafter, by presenting fruits, flowers and citation besides draping shawls around them.

The freedom fighters, expressing their happiness at recognizing their services to the nation, thanked the MRPL management for the kind gesture. T Ramakrishna addressed the audience. Seetharam Rai proposed vote of thanks.

    It is totally amasing,especially about the acheivements of some unknown freedom fighters...according to me these things have to be noted because they are the reason for us to be living in a free india...

    It is very nice to see the report and many phothos of the function. It is heartening to see that freedom fighters are honoured by corporates. I am also happy to note that Late Attavar Yellappa is also honoured postumously.
