Karwar: R V Deshpande Welcomes Gokarna Temple Transfer

Daijiworld Media Network - Karwar (SP)

Karwar, Oct 1: the newly-appointed Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande opined that development of Gokarna temple is of paramount importance, and not who is doing it.

He visited Gokarna Lord Mahabaleshwara temple on Tuesday September 30 and held discussions with Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math, to whom the charge of the temple has been handed over by the government recently.

"Maths alone can achieve development of religious centres. The entrustment of the temple administration to Ramachandrapur Math is a welcome move," Deshpande commented. He appreciated the Math's efforts in concentrating on cleansing the temple premises besides facilitating drinking water in the temple premises, within a few days of taking over charge of the temple.

Deshpande recollected the visit of ex-chief minister S M Krishna to this famous centre of pilgrimage, when he had expressed his dis-satisfaction over the lack of facilities and improper administration. "Let us not dig out the past, but extend whole-hearted support to the new administration," he advised.

I appreciate Mr. Deshpande's impartial comment. It is difficult to be impartial being a opposition party. This would definetely help to open eyes of many people who were not ready to accept good things in the society.

This is a pleasant surprise. This is one of the very few times I have seen a politician standing above partisan politics and looking at an issue based on its own merit. The big question is : How long this attitude will last Or if he continues this sane and clean politics, how long will he last as Congress leader? From what I have observed till now, I can say - not for long.. But if he does, I will go with congress any day.
