Udupi, Oct 1: Burglars attempted a break-in at the Syndicate Bank branch, located near Nandikoor, on Wednesday October 1 in the early morning.

The locals informed the police when they saw the padlocks of the bank shutters broken  and the shutter open a little. The burglars had been unable to break open the solid master lock holding onto the floor below.

Although the streets near the bank were fully lit, the burglars managed to trip the electricity grid giving them the Scover of darkness. Nandikoor has witnessed an influx of skilled and unskilled labourers from all over the country, in recent times. Hence, it is difficult to pinpoint the culprits, said police sources.

The branch manager managed to open the center lock and confirmed that the intruders were unsuccessful in their attempt to burglarize the bank. Padubidri police have registered a case in this regard.
