Beltangady: Miscreant Who Damaged Infant Jesus Statue Caught

Beltangady, Oct 2: Policemen belonging to Venur police station have taken into custody, a person who pelted stone and damaged the glass covering provided to the statue of infant Jesus at Murje church near here.

The arrested person has been identified as Shivaprasad(21) from Devaragudde near Vogga. He has been charged with coming on a motor bike on the night of September 18, damaging the glass covering of the above statue and fleeing in his vehicle.

Venur sub-inspector of police Manju and other staff had conducted thorough investigations into the case. The accused was arrested on Monday September 29 night. It is learnt, that during interrogation, he confessed to having committed the offence alone. On production in the local court, he was remanded to 15 days of judicial custody.
