Udupi, Jul 21: Reports saying that doctors have found traces of organophosphorus in the body of Sri Shiroor Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji have given credence to the theory that the Swamiji's death was caused by pesticides. It is said that the doctors who did not find anything unusual in the beginning after the Swamiji was admitted into the hospital, came to know about the presence of this poisonous substance in the body during in-depth investigation.
Samples from the stomach collected six hours after his admission into the hospital tested positive to the presence of this substance. The doctors said that the symptoms of loose motion, vomiting with blood traces, damage to inner organs etc are in tune with the damages normally caused by consumption of pesticides.
Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math has said that the Shiroor Swamiji, who had relationship with a woman since long, had come close to another woman recently. He guessed that dispute between these two women could positively have been a reason for his death. He said he is ready for investigation if the investigating agencies want it.
Some have expressed the suspicion that this unnatural death would have been caused relating to property deals. The Swamiji had complained at his base Math as well as Daivas about two builders having cheated him. It is said that he had organized special Nema of Daivas three months back, and confessed before the Daivas that two builders have been harassing him by not paying Rs 26 crore due to him since long. He had told the Daivas that out of the two Mumbai-based builders, one had cheated him to the tune of Rs 12 crore, and the other, Rs 14 crore, it is gathered.
