India to become 5-trillion-dollar economy in seven years: Prabhu

Mumbai, Sep 6 (IANS): With phenomenal changes in social and economic sector reforms, India will become a five-trillion-dollar economy in seven years from the present 2.6 trillion dollars, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu said here on Thursday.

He said that the GDP growth of 8.3 per cent in the last quarter will be consolidated and continue going forward and India would certainly become a 10-trillion-dollar economy by 2035.

Speaking on 'India Ideas Summit' at the US-India Business Council (USIBC), Prabhu said that for this, the government has prepared a multi-sectoral strategy besides the reforms and improving the ease of doing business.

"A new industrial policy is on the anvil with dual focus on modernizing existing businesses and getting new and futuristic businesses into the economy, for which 12 champion service sectors have been identified for systematic promotion," the Minister said.

Expressing hope that the Make In India initiative will become an even bigger success in the future, Prabhu said: "Start-ups are the best laboratory for change and innovation. We already have around 20,000 start-ups registered with DIPP and are promoting in a major way across the country."

On the agriculture and horticulture growth, Prabhu said the government aims to double the income of farmers by 2022, while the country notched the highest export growth in the past six years in fiscal 2017-2018.

Over the next 10 years, Prabhu said that transactions worth more than 100 billion dollars are targeted on GeM, the National Procurement Portal, which was launched yesterday to educate and bring on-board more buyers-sellers besides promoting cashless and digital transactions.

He said a 'holistic strategy' is being developed to tap into the potential of the Indian logistics sector to forge better linkages between the manufacturing sector and the global supply chains.

"We are also seeing a huge growth in the aviation sector, India is the fastest-growing aviation market in the world," Prabhu said, outlining a plan to boost and promote the aviation sector.

Prabhu gave away awards to the winners of Women's Start-up Awards in the presence of USIBC President Nisha Biswal, USIBC Board Member Carlos Gutierre and various industry representatives.

Prabhu you are talking as if your brain is filled with BS.
Maybe BJP party's bank balance will be 5-trillion-dollar in 7 years but not India's economy.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu may be these days only reading RSS mouthpiece 'Organizer' and only watching Arnab Goswami's 'Republic TV' evening high decibel shouting debate.
Earlier this year, newspapers reported that 992 PhD scholars, 23,000 M.Phil holders, 2.5 lakh post-graduates and eight lakh graduates were among the nearly 20 lakh applicants for exams conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) to fill 9,500 posts of typists, village administrative officers (VAO) and stenographers. In late March, it was reported that over 2.8 crore people applied for about 90,000 jobs in the Indian Railways. Even more recently, two lakh applicants – including 423 with bachelor’s degrees in engineering, 167 MBAs, 543 postgraduates in commerce, 28 with BEds, 34 masters in computer science, 159 M.Scs, 25 with bachelor’s degrees in mass media and communication, and 167 BBAs – applied for 1,167 jobs of police constables in Mumbai.
Every month, the working age increases by 1.3 million people and India must create 8.1 million jobs a year to maintain its employment rate.
Half of India’s 1.3 billion people are below 25 and two-thirds are under 35. And they are desperately looking for jobs.
A higher number of Indian students, professionals, doctors, and scientists are working abroad now than ever before. On the other hand, the money they are is declining. There is an urgent need to revisit the problem and find new and innovative solutions to reverse the trend quickly.
At 1.35 lakh, 2015 recorded the lowest figure in terms of job creation in seven years, down from 4.19 lakh in 2013 and 9 lakh in 2011.
In 2014, Modi had promised 1 crore jobs a year during his election rallies. This is again a jumla like the Rs 15 lakh in each person’s account after black money stashed abroad is brought back. The BJP’s manifesto mentions the word ‘job’ 27 times but seems to have not done enough on the front of job creation.
