Bengaluru: Karnataka Health Summit on 'Universal Health Care' to be held on Sep 9

Bengaluru, Sep 7: A day long 'Karnataka Health Summit-2018’ on ‘Universal Health Care – Opportunities and Challenges’ will be held under the aegis of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) – Karnataka in the city on Sunday September 9.

Eminent personalities, policy makers and experts will deliberate and debate on health related issues during the day-long summit.

Karnataka’s deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwara will inaugurate the summit with Sivananda S Patil, minister for Health and Family Welfare, as chief guest and K Sujatha Rao IAS (retd) will deliver a keynote address.

The summit will be held amid the backdrop of the central government’s decision to implement the Universal Health Care policy, which has been discussed across the country at length among the stakeholders of the health care delivery system.

The summit will focus on improving the health indicators and enhance health care delivery system in both rural and urban areas of India and Karnataka.

While private hospitals and nursing homes across the country have been playing a major role in providing health care delivery systems in the country, the summit will also deliberate at length issues nagging private institutions in achieving the central government’s goals by implementing the universal health care policy.

Among others things, the issues related to adopting Information Technology (IT) in delivery of health series at the primary healthcare level, advantages of IT in ensuring fast delivery of services and other aspects of modern healthcare facilities will be discussed by experts in the panel discussion, which will be attended by members of medical associations and eminent practicing doctors.

The summit will focus on the Karnataka government’s KPME bill and health insurance, its implications in providing the healthcare delivery system in the state.

Dr Nagendra Swamy, K Sujatha Rao, former union secretary, health and family welfare, Javed Akthar, IAS, principal secretary, health and family welfare, Government of Karnataka, Prof Dr C N Manjunath, director, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, col (Dr) Dayananda Malenahalli, director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, Dr Mallesh Hullimani, president KPMEA will debate on ‘Universal Health Care - Opportunities and Challenges.’

Dr S Gaekwad, Dr Nandakumar Jairam, chairman Columbia Hospitals- India, Dr Alexander Thomas, president AHPI, Dr Prashanth N, neuro surgeon, promoter Svaasthya Health City, GM National Insurance and DGM United India Insurance will be in the panel discussion on ‘Private Hospitals – Current Concerns on KPME and Insurance.’
