Mangaluru: Outgoing and newly appointed bishop extend wishes for Monthi Fest

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 7: Outgoing Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza and bishop-elect Msgr Dr Peter Paul Saldanha extended their wishes to people on the eve of Monthi fest.

In a media release, Bishop Aloysius stated, “Mother Mary played an important role in the salvation history, therefore God created her free from original sin. The birth of Mother Mary proclaims God’s love to the world. Her faith filled life is the model for all Christians. Celebrating her birthday as new corn day or family feast is a great privilege for us. Therefore let us honour Mary, accept her queenship in our families as we dine together. May Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for us. I wish you a happy feast of nativity.”

“Mother Mary is the most beautiful and perfect creation among all creations of God. She is the mother of our Lord Jesus and the first love of the world. As the feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated as girl child day in the church lets pray for girls who are exploited and deprived of the rights to live in the society and we pledge to protect them. Let our family bonds be strengthened as we come together and share the meal with the new corn. I wish you all a happy feast of nativity,” stated Msgr Dr Saldanha in the press release.

Mangalore Diocese will be highly privileged to enjoy the benefit of the newly appointed Bishop who will have all the help and guidance from the retired Bishop, whenever required. The Diocese is expanding with so many new developments, hence the role of the Bishop will obviously will also entail greater responsibilities.

There is so much more that can be accomplished with the help and support of all those who have shouldered the past responsibilities of the Diocese. The in-house help will always be useful in handling so many delicate issues that require mutual exchange of ideas and opinions.

May God help Mangalore Diocese in all our future challenges that are ahead of us.
