Udupi, Sep 9: Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike Udupi, Dalitha Sangharsha Samiti Udupi and other organisations jointly held a meet in memory of Gauri Lankesh on the occasion of freedom of expression day at martyr’s memorial ground Ajjarkad, Udupi here on Saturday, September 8.

G Rajshekhar, district president, Karnataka Komu Sauharda vedike in his address said, “The roots of Hindu-outfits are rooted deeply into the earth. The court has released killers of Gauri Lankesh citing technical reasons. There is no surprise in it. It happened with one who killed Gandhi too. Even Sudhanwa Gondhalekar, a native of Satar knew Gauri Lankesh, before her murder. There is no space for rational thinkers.”

“It was very clear that Dabholkar, Pansare, Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh were killed for expressing the truth. These rational thinkers were killed by RSS principles. The same principles of RSS were the reason for assassination of thousands of Muslims. Kandhamal incidents, murder of Muzafar were the example for mass assassination. I condemn these murders. We are not privileged to be intellectuals. Afeez was murdered because he is a Muslim. No one helped him to escape from the situation. I oppose principles of Hinduism and RSS,” Rajshekar said before shouting slogans against Hinduism and RSS.

Hayavadana, vice president, KKSV said, “The innocent people were killed for their rational thoughts in the name of religion. It is suppression of the voice of rational thoughts. Let us discuss face to face, not by taking extreme step. There is need to revive Humanism.”

Sundar Master of DSS said, “An effort was being made to suppress freedom of expression. No action has been taken against traitors, who burnt constitution.”

Fr William Martis, Shyamaraj Birti, Hussain Kodi Bengre, Paniraj, Samvartha and others were present.
