Mangaluru, Sep 14: To create awareness on drug abuse, Junior Chamber International(JCI), Mangaluru unit organized an Anti-Narcotic Drive programme in association with Lions Club, Mangaluru, Yenepoya Medical College and Project Angels Dust at Forum Fiza Mall on Thursday, September 14.

Vijay Vishnu Mayya, president, Lions Club, Mangaluru, Dr Ashiwni Shetty, assistant professor of Yenepoya Medical College, Dr Shrikumar, ex bureau chief of Anti Narcotic Cell, India, Shailaja Rao, president, JCI, Mangaluru, Sowjanya Hegde, Venkatesh Balig and Deepak graced the event and gave their messages against drug abuse.

In his speech, Vijay Vishnu said “We have got one life and we should spend it very carefully. In the meantime, we should think about other's life also. If we live with respect to one another, it will be the golden days of our life on this earth. Children and students think that once they grow up, they have to take the responsibility of looking after their parents. There is nothing wrong in their thinking. But they should also think to keep them happy. For this to happen, they should concentrate on their young lives. There are many things which will spoil our teen and young age. Drugs are the main menace, which destroys the entire life and brings sorrow to the parents of the addicted person also. So do not entertain any drug-related activity, which forces a person to consume a dope,"

"I appreciate JCI, Mangaluru, and students of Yenepoya Medical College for their Anti Narcotic Drive. It is very essential at the present time. If students take initiative, definitely this drive will yield a positive result.”

Later a street play and dance, which conveys the message against drug abuse was performed in front of the DC's office by the students.
