Mangaluru, Sep 14: Participation of two champion sportsmen in International bench press event is doubtful since the excise department, where they work, is yet to approve leave for the same.
Ekalavya award winner Sathish Kumar Kudroli, serving as excise officer at KR Pete zone in Mandya and Commonwealth gold medallist Vincent Carlo, serving at Mangaluru excise joint commissioner's office, have been selected to represent India in Asian bench press event at Dubai. The event will be held from September 18 to 24.

Sathish Kumar Kudroli and Vincent Carlo want to represent India in bench press event as the trainer and a participant respectively. Now the participation of both the athletes in the event is doubtful since the duo is yet to get permission from their departments and sanction of leave. “We have applied for the leave but there is no response from the department yet,” they said.
With the help of power lifting association, they have written to the chief minister, sports minister and government general secretary, asking permission and leave approval, as Indian contingent will leave to Dubai on September 17.
