Bengaluru, Sep 16: If certain sources within the BJP are to be believed, activities aimed at triggering the fall of the coalition government in the state might begin on Monday September 17. At the same time, it is said that the strategy of the BJP leaders would be to act as if they are not concerned or connected with whatever is going on.
It is said that as a result of relentless efforts being put in by former chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa, around 20 legislators are expected to tender resignations voluntarily. It is said that Yeddyurappa has already held several rounds of talks with these MLAs and his efforts will begin to bear fruits with effect from Monday.
Minister for municipal administration, Ramesh Jarkiholi, in all likelihood, will be the first to leave on Monday, sources say. Thereafter, other MLAs might tender resignations for different reasons. If the resignations are not accepted, they might submit letters expressing loss of trust in the government to the state governor, sources added.
The legislators will perhaps create an atmosphere to show that they took decision to withdraw support to the government because of unilateral decisions of the chief minister, not giving attention to problems of their respective constituencies, apathy towards north Karnataka etc and maladministration of the coalition government.
Those who will resign from their memberships of the assembly will also resign from the primary memberships of respective parties, it is said.
While the BJP has assured these legislators of giving some powerful positions, there is no concrete assurance about making them victorious in the bypoll, it is being claimed.
BJP sources expected some of these rebel legislators to take part in the parliamentary party meeting of BJP being held on September 18.
