Mangaluru, Sep 19: A case of cheating had been registered in Panambur police station here, based on a complaint made by the proprietor of Shivaganesh Transport Company on August 30 this year. The complainant had stated that palm oil worth Rs 7,50,000 packed in 1,050 boxes and dispatched by him to Bengaluru on behalf of Ruchi Soya industries here on August 28 by truck owned by Sugama company driven by Anil Kumar had not reached its destination.
Panambur police station police inspector, Rafiq K M, and sub-inspector (law and order), Umesh Kumar M N, had conducted investigations and succeeded in arresting the accused, identified as Asadulla Sharif (49). Upon intensive questioning, he is said to have confessed that he had killed the truck driver, Anil, with the help of his accomplices. He informed that they had buried the mortal remains of Anil Kumar at Kumbalagodu in Ramanagara district and stolen the load of palm oil in the lorry.

The body of Anil was disinterred from the spot where it was buried with the help of subdiviional officer or Bengaluru south division, subjected it to post-mortem and handed the same over to his relatives. A case of murder was registered against the accused. He was produced in court on Tuesday September 18 and was remanded to police custody for further investigation. A search is in progress for the remaining suspects.
Accused Asadulla Sharif (50), son of Rahaman Shariff, happens to be a resident of Kambipura, Magadi taluk, Ramanagara district.
The above operation was conducted under the directions of city commissioner of police, T S Suresh, guidance of deputy commissioner of police, Uma Prashanth, and leadership of city (north) assistant police commissioner, Rajendra D S by Panambur police inspector Rafiq K M, sub-inspector, Umesh Kumar M N, anti- rowdy squad officials and Panambur police station staff.
