Udupi, Dec 29: There is still no trace of the fishermen, who were on the boat Suvarna Tribhuja, which went missing 14 days ago.

The team of police and 10 fishermen, who have gone for the search and rescue effort, are searching for the missing boat on the shores of the sea, rivers and land that is adjacent to these waterbodies. However, they have not got any clue so far.

It might be recalled that this boat had gone missing since the late night of December 15 along with the seven crew members.

Fish Sellers' Federation urges strengthening of coast guard

"The government has to get awakened by this missing boat incident and take measures to strengthen the coast guard police force," urged Yashpal Suvarna, president of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Fish Sellers' Federation.

Yashpal further said, "Civil police are being deputed for guarding the coast. Locals, who can work in the harsh weather of the sea should be recruited for this work. The minister has to visit the homes of the missing fishermen and give them strength to face this adverse situation. This issue is discussed with the ministers of center and Goa and coast guard is continuing with the search."

Yashpal also said that uniforms have to be provided for the fishermen so that they can be identified as the fishermen of our state and this makes communication faster and better.
