Mangaluru, Dec 29: As a noble gesture, Konkani movie and drama director Pradeep Barboza, visited Devdas Kapikad, the Tulu movie and drama director and felicitated him on Saturday December 28.
Along with Aurther Periera, Konkani writer, Padmaraj Ekkar, a well known organizer in UAE, Mellu, Valencia, actor, Pradeep paid a surprise visit to Devadas Kapikad who resides at Kodialbail and presented him bouquets and memento.
Seeking blessings from the senior actor, Pradeep said, "For the past twenty five years I have been closely watching and monitoring the dramas of Devadas Kapikad as well as his acting and style of executing comedy movies. I do not have any godfather or trainers in my career. I only learned acting and scriptwriting by watching the dramas of Devadas Kapikad.
"I have not trained directly under him and indirectly he is my teacher. I have now written 13 dramas which have been appreciated by the people. The Konkani movie I have directed has gained much appreciation in the Konkani world. Few days back I received the title'Konkani Haasy Rathn' from an organization. After that I felt the urge to meet Devdas and convey my generosity. Today, he welcomed me and hailed my work. To me he is like Dronacharya of Mahabharatha. I am the Ekalavya who studied his education in front of Dronacharya's statue.“
Replying to the felicitation Devadas said, "I am extremely surprised. I heard the name Pradeep Barboza many times. He is one of the talented actors in Konkani. He directed many dramas which have all become super hits. Today, I am happy to hear that he is following me and has been inspired by my dramas. It is very rare to get such humble and down to earth people. I salute Pradeep for his achievements and wish him all the best."
