Karwar: Man visiting Goa to celebrate New Year drowns

Karwar, Jan 2: A tourist from Bengaluru drowned in beach near Vasco, Goa, on Tuesday January 1. The deceased was part of a group of four colleagues from Bengaluru who were on a visit to Goa for celebrating new year.

The victim, Ravikumar Dhananjay Poojary (29), was an employee of IT company, Unisys India, Bengaluru. He and three of his friends had arrived at Vasco to celebrate. All the four had visited Bogmalo Beach Vasco. When swimming in the sea, Poojary was washed away due to the force of a huge wave. With help from locals, he was rescued and rushed to a hospital at Chicalim.

Poojary could not be saved in spite of best efforts of the doctors there. A case of unnatural death in this connection was registered in Vasco police station.
