Udupi, Jan 4: "Manu Baligar, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad (KaSaPa) does not know what is Youtube. When Manu was asked to telecast the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana live, he said that "I am a student of literature and not a technical person," said senior litterateur Muralidhar Upadhyaya, showing his unhappiness.

So far the Kannada Sahitya Sammelan was getting telecasted live on Youtube or website every year. But this year it is not so. Muralidhar Upadhyaya has urged over the phone for the live telecast of the All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana that is taking place at Dharwad on January 4.

Giving his reaction on the issue, Muralidhar said, "I requested for the live telecast of the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana on Youtube with the president of KaSaPa. However, Manu Baligar said that he does not know what is Youtube and he is a student of literature."

"If the president of KaSaPa does not know what is Youtube, that is his personal problem. There are lacs of fans of literature and senior citizens like me all over the world. We cannot attend the conference in person. How we can watch the sammelana?" questioned Muralidhar.

Muralidhar further experseed his resentment by saying, "If the conference is telecasted live through Youtube, it will be convenient for the Kannadigas living in the state, country and abroad. The government is spending Rs eight crores for the Sahitya Sammelana. There is no expense to telecast the same on youtube live. This is the social responsibility of Kannada Sahitya Parishad. For those who cannot attend the conference in person, live telecast should be arranged, so that they also can relish the fragrance of Kannada from wherever they are."
