Mangaluru, Jan 7: Altar Servers’ Day was celebrated at St Lawrence Church, Bondel on Sunday, January 6.
The celebration began with holy Eucharist presided by Fr Javahar Jerry Cutinha, vocation director of Capuchin order. Fr Clifford Pinto, assistant parish priest, con-celebrated the Mass. As many 96 altar servers were present. Breakfast was served to altar servers and their parents.
The stage programme began at 10:30 am at Kannada medium school hall. Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza, parish priest, presided over the programme. Fr Javahar Jerry Cutinha was the chief guest, Fr Clifford Pinto, Henbert Pinto, vice-president of Pastoral Parish Council, Francis Veigas, secretary, Lloyed, president of Altar Servers Sodality, and Ancial, vice-president were present on the dais.
After the stage programme, as a part of entertainment, dance, skit and singing competition was organised. Winners were rewarded with shield and trophies. Lloyed welcomed the gathering, Ancial rendered the vote of thanks and Preemal compered the programme.
Lunch was served after the programme. Housie-Housie game was conducted after the lunch. Later, the altar servers moved towards Milagres Church to join the diocesan Eucharistic procession. As many as 78 altar servers joined the Eucharistic procession.
